Could 21 million souls be at stake?
Here we explain why FastAmerica is so adamant about praying for government and Christian leaders, and why we asked you to individually invite people to your home to pray for America Sunday, Monday, and/or Tuesday (see below).
Run this thought experiment.
Small changes make big numbers
Suppose that having Godly men and women in various government positions (from city council to state and federal government, to judges, to Vice President and President) would enhance the spread of the gospel (or at least not hinder it), and the number of Christians in America would increase by 1%.
The 1% would equal about 3 million people1.
Now imagine that those 3 million people each marry Christians and have or adopt two children that become Christians. Broadly speaking, that’s another 6 million2.
Now suppose those 6 million children get married and have or adopt two children that become Christians. That’s 12 million people, making 21 million people total. All in one lifetime.
If each one of them were to lead one person to Christ, that’s 42 million. If having Godly leaders increased the number of Christians by 2% instead of 1%, that’s also 42 million.
The math compounds from there.
All that to say: Godly leaders can open doors for the gospel, which creates more Godly people, who turn out more Godly leaders.
Our leaders have tremendous power. Consider that President Obama appointed 330 federal and circuit judges3 during his time in office (two of them to the Supreme Court).
Politics aside, consider the power that the President (and Vice President, close advisers, and other government officials) have over federal and local judges, policies, key appointees, and our daily culture.
If you want to spread the gospel at home and overseas, why would you not pray for Godly leaders in America, who can keep that access to the gospel open both nationally and internationally?
Here’s your chance.
3 steps to invite people to your home to pray
- Make a list of 5-25+ families
- Call or text them individually to ask them to come to your home to pray Sunday, Monday, and/or Tuesday
- Open your door when they show up
Not sure how long? 30-60min seems to be the time most people are using.
Think you’re too busy? In the grand scheme of things, you probably aren’t.
Be strong, be bold, pray, and get people to pray.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (ESV)
“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
Franklin Graham put out a thought-provoking ~7min video on voting and local elections. Watch the first 1min 49secs – but be forewarned, afterwards you might find that you want to run for School Board, City Council, or Mayor.

2Broadly speaking; Christian families may have more or less than two children per family, 100% of children may not grow up to be believers, or perhaps the Christian kids will lead friends to the gospel, offsetting the attrition from Christianity; the point is that you get the point
